Family Promise of Spokane
Family Promise of Spokane (FPS) unites the religious community to respond to the growing need to provide shelter , meals, and assistance to homeless families . Through use of existing church facilities and volunteer congregations, FPS provides guests a temporary home and offers critical support services while they seek permanent housing in order to retain their independence.
Network programs offer 24 hour/day facilities and three meals/day. FPoS can house 3 to 5 families, up to 14 individuals, who can stay 30-60 days. Guests are screened by social services agencies for substance abuse or psychiatric problems and then families are referred to FPS.
North Hill Christian Church is involved with FPS by serving as a 'host congregation' one week each quarter. This involves planning, organizing and providing:
